Interpretive Signs

Signs

With funding from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), a series of interpretive signs were placed along the Creeper Trail in 2007. The text was written by Ed Morgan and Dr. Ed Davis, authors of The Virginia Creeper Trail Companion, along with David Winship of Abingdon. Editing and project management was done by Link Elmore, volunteering with the Virginia Master Naturalist program. The layout and graphic design were done by Holly Horton. The signs were placed along the length of the trail at significant points to interpret both the natural features and history of the trail's development. Installation labor was provided by the trail maintenance crew of the club, led by Dr. Bob Horsch. We hope to expand this project in the future as additional funds become available. Please contact the club if you have a suggestion for additional interpretive sign locations.
